I purchased a brand new starter { pulley starter} from a Mercury dealer who now carry parts for the Gamefisher. The motor will not crank from the pulley starter. Its so tight that it has broken off two ropes. However the motor starts easily when the rope is attached to the fly wheel.

May 18, 2009. #3. Re: 15 hp gamefisher lower unit. It turned out to be a shift linkage problem. The linkage connection bolt wasn't tight so when I would shift in forward it would slip. Same with reverse, and that's why It would either freeze in forward, or neutral and wouldn't shift out of it. I adjusted it, and tightened it, and it works fine now.

Re: 89 gamefisher 15 hp no top end power, symptoms improve when choked applied. Rebuild the fuel pump for starters.
