Tivo remote not working with new batteries.
Clearly not a remote issue. Nothing has changed in my settings, no new hardware introduced, everything had been working fine for 6 months. After a reboot the remote works again for a moment but after a few button presses all I receive is the yellow acknowledge light on the tivo, but no acceptance of the commands (from either remote). Reboot. Rinse.

I used the RCA codes, 0001 and it did work. But, strange, the volume control only works from within 4 or 5 feet of the TV. TIVO support told me that the remote receiver on the TCL tv is not very sensitive and so the tivo remote does not work well with this tv. Tivo support sent me a new remote, so will try that out.Removing the batteries from the remote won't work. The Edge isn't unresponsive -- you can use the iOS app to control it. The Edge just won't respond to the remote. Basically I guess the remote stops working, goes into IR mode and won't control TiVo or TV, but will reset itself when you reboot the Edge and not the remote. I mean, HDMI causing the RF remote to stope functioning. I did also do the "Clear > Enter > Clear > 221 > Clear" which, "will send a signal to clear any RF pairings on the DVR." It worked and the remote repaired the RF with the Mini, but I imediateally turned RF mode back off while I am trouble shooting this issue.

Even downloading the TiVo app on my iPhone could not wake the Bolt without unplugging it first. Remote does play when the Find button was pressed. Must be something with the box, not remote.
