Heavy ballista can hit 50 using it as last hit weapon. It's hard to bring mage switch simply because bofa does so well on green snake already and you don't know rotation until the second or third snake. Still get 1-1:30 kills as if I brought typical mage setup. Saves more gp and more afk. Bowfa = Budget Tbow.

Do mage only and hide behind pillars when mage phase is up. I’ve recently been farming Zulrah with BP only and its surprisingly doable. I have 99 range though and use eagle eye. Sip Range pot after every 2 kills. Average kill time is around 2:20 which I’m happy with personally. Also use god d’hide over Karils.

Bowfa is more versatile IMO, can't think of a place where it doesn't perform well, even if not BiS. On the other hand zcb is mostly used at nex. Dont. Bofa is better everywhere apart from Nex. And it's very useable in mass world Nex.If you take into account needing to go to zulrah for scales it probably ends up being slower Bowfa is just so ridiculously. On task, kill them in slayer caves. Off task I like to cannon them at the shayzien camp. There are safe spots at the camp but requires another account to do. GL on DWh. feasible, not very good though. Depends if you only going to get bowfa just for zulrah. If so then not really worth. Most ironman uses it because the only upkeep is crystal shards instead of ammo costs. It is definitely sufficiently good as I can get a <1 min kill with bowfa only rigour serp helm and thralls.

Unlike the BP meta where slayer would greatly help the zulrah grind. For example, Muspah and Zulrah usually require a mage switch but Bowfa is so accurate that you can just power through both phases without losing much DPS. It's basically the equivalent of pre-nerf Blowpipe and its absurd DPS shredding every boss with cheap ammo.All this is to say, the most important thing about learning Zulrah is to not get discouraged. This is a difficult and punishing boss to learn, especially if you're doing it without access to a trident or other important pieces of gear. I would generally try just 2 attempts per day or so, and found myself improving quickly.

After like three weeks of attempts & upgrading my gear I was finally able to get my first zulrah kc today, Heh. At first I tried mage only, but felt that I didn't have enough dps so I brought some range. I used fire wave with tome and a 3 item range switch. Zulrah drops an average of 200 scales per kill, and that's just from the guaranteed drop. I don't understand how you could possibly use that many scales per kill. Even assuming a 3 minute kill that's 40 scales, which means youd have to attack zulrah a total of 160 times to only break even on scales.

Crystal armor + BOWFA isn't only good at Zulrah. In fact, the need for it only gets higher as you progress to harder content than Zulrah. You'd "need" to do the grind anyway at some point, unless you're getting turbo spooned and get something like a tbow.
