Last year I became the proud owner of a new-to-me 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid and I love it! Until today. I got the "Stop Safely NOW" message this morning, just as I was pulling into a parking space to drop off my daughter at school. 20 minutes later, the car started up fine, the message was gone & warning light was off, so I drove to work.
Out of nowhere this morning while leaving our house, going about 10 MPH, our 2020 Escape Hybrid Titanium shut off the engine and had a “Stop Safely Now” screen appear. We shut the car off and waited 1 minute and it came back on no problem. This happened twice more as I drove it around the block to test. The price of the 2024 Ford Escape starts at $30,990 and goes up to $41,995 depending on the trim and options. The car will actually start, then it disengages and turns off full enging after it shuts off and you try to restart it flashes the "stop safely now" warning and won't start. Two tries later it starts, engine runs for a few minutes and then it shuts off again. Ok. It is most likely the ECT (engine coolant temp) sensor.
