Looking for a reproduction heat shield / bayonet mount for a Winchester 1897 /97 shotgun. Bonus points if you have a 1917 bayonet too.Admittedly, the lack of a vent rib on the 97 presents a bit of a challange during a 100 bird shoot on a hot summer day as the heat waves coming off the plain barrel tend to blur the target. IMO, Winchester gave the Model 97 and Model 12 full chokes which are equal or superior to those of many current high end and costly dedicated trap guns. DFFinally managed to get my grubby little hands on an authentic Winchester '97 trench gun. US marked with flaming bomb, notches on the underside of the muzzle end for the bayo lug. The buttstock is a replacement, which will be replaced. No finish left. Looks like it was made in 1948, from the research I've done. Some folks like these for Wild Bunch, because the extra weight helps keep the muzzle down. I don't care for it, so here it is! Be advised that some modification to the barrel may be needed to make it fit.The Model 1897 Trench grade was an evolution of this idea. This auction is for a reproduction 1897 Winchester Trench Gun heat shield with bayonet lug. The finish on the shield has been partially worn off. The 3 screws that hold the shroud to the barrel are slightly worn but functional. The overall condition is good. The pump is a classic corncob-style design. It's small but fairly accurate for the guns at the time. The wood stock has nice checkering along the pistol grip that's tough to hate. We get sling swivels and even a sling, but the sling seems rather dainty. Across the barrel, we get a fixed metal heat shield for those trench gun vibes.
