The same design was put into the 2013 Accord and had one issue, which was corrected within two months. The Accord CVT would sometimes "stutter" on low speed launch. I haven't heard much about the '06 and '07 transmissions failing. I know Honda had a lot of problems until about 2006/2007 with transmissions. Not directly related but my dad has a 2002 Odyssey which, despite the infrequent fluid changes, is still going on the original transmission. My uncle's 2007 Odyssey is still going on factory trans fluid.

A lot more top end power and the gears are smooth. Also, based on research, CVT in general tend to be faulty (not specifically Honda) and are very costly to repair. On another note, I know a lot of people who owns the CVT and are very satisfied and happy with 1.5L. Plus there's the bonus of lower fuel consumption.
