Ithaca 37's are fine pump guns, and especially for shooting slugs, but they are an old design and have had some revisions. The most important to decide what to do is determine which style threading the barrel has. The cutoff is 855,000. Before 855,000, the barrel must be fitted to the action, and I think they are usually serial numbered.

If not, you can send the gun to Ithica and they will fit the barrel to it. The difference is the thread pitch.
