The CX50 and RAV4 adventure/trd seem to be similar in what they can do. The RAV imo has the better awd system but I haven’t had a chance to see and feel the Mazda. The RAV seems to struggle with power so the CX50’s turbo drivetrain is very compelling. The Mazda CX-50 is the quintessential egg shaped boring crossover.
Hello. I am highly considering buying this 2011 rav 4 limited v6. It has a pretty high price on it given it’s age ($16,500) but in my area that’s average right now. It has only 106k miles and has had 1 owner with a clean car fax. He’s not really willing to go lower on the price and in my area for an older car the interest is like 10% but ... Rav gets almost twice the gas milage, drives smoother and quieter and has quite a bit more power. Subaru was $8k cheaper for same features and is quite a bit better in the snow/mud. Also in today’s world where is is hard to find cars in stock, there seem to be way more foresters available. Lower center of gravity which results in better handling. A Camry and Rav4 are two very different things. If you're looking for something with more space and storage then the obvious choice is the Rav4. If you want a car, then go with the Camry. This may be an unpopular take, but the Rav4 seems like a “mom car” to me.In my experience Toyotas have the body fall apart before the engine. If a new hybrid rav4 is $35k and lasts 200k+ miles, 5k for that car is ok if you need a car today and have a backup car, because all the surprise mechanical issues will emerges towards the end of a cars life. For reference a 2019 rav4 pre Covid base msrp was $25k.

Further research reveals that the RAV4 (non-plug in) hybrid, does need a bit more driver/owner 'attention' than the gas model, in terms of cleaning various filters, and making sure to run the car regularly so the battery does not go flat.Short answer- no. You can manage without 4x4/awd. However, you'll need to exercise caution and common sense off-pavement and know the limits of the vehicle. For instance, you might be able to go down a road to camp- and be unable to leave after overnight rains.Bins of food and gear go on the floor behind the front seats, rear seats fold down for sleeping, packs go on the driver’s seat, cooler goes in the passenger seat, and boots and camp chairs sit under the vehicle or on the passenger seat’s floor. The RAV4 was never intended for off-roading, it’s designed intent is similar to a Subaru. It’ll get you up the occasional slippery hill or through a snowstorm, but keep it off the trails. The RAV4 interior is a lot more "basic" than the CR-V. It's well done and it looks decent, but it's far from the luxury look of the CR-V. It has more space inside, at least visually speaking, I didn't measure anything.
