The 1976-P Clad Quarter is the scarcer of the two in mintage and in high grade condition. The Mint also produced a business strike 1976-S Biccentennial Quarter composed of silver or a Type 4. For the Proof Bicentennial Quarter the Mint also produced two different types. The Type 3 was produced out of a Clad composition.Total mintages for business strike coins of the 1976 Bicentennial quarters comprised the following: 1776-1976 copper-nickel clad from Philadelphia (no mintmark): 809,784,016The 1976-S Type II clad proof dollar was included in 6-piece 1976 proof sets that also include the 1976-dated penny, nickel, and dime as well as the 1776-1976 Bicentennial quarter and 1776-1976 Bicentennial half dollar — all bearing “S” mintmarks. I think this might be a very nice version of a regular bicentennial quarter (as many people saved them in 1976). If you really think this is rare, you can submit it to PCGS or NGC as a potential discovery coin.
