Mar 29, 2014 · The slide lock on my 1st generation LCP was stiff but manageable. My 2nd generation was very difficult to move even with the slide removed. I finally just removed the slide lock and polished away all the machining marks on the lock and the dovetail in the frame insert and now it's much more manageable. Pry off the Take Down Pin. Pull the slide slightly to the rear about 1/16" and then with a small flat head screwdriver, pry the take down pin, upwards until it is loose. Remove Take Down Pin. Remove the take down pin out of the frame of the Ruger LCP. Remove the Slide From the Frame of the Ruger LCP.Sorry I am so late with the outcome. My Gunsmith said it was a bad barrel. I contacted Ruger and in about a week I had it back with a new barrel. Works like a charm now. Ruger has great customer service! Also I handed the sharp edges of the hole in the frame after removing the trigger assembly. Those 2 mods helped quite a bit.
