I think it's kind of funny that it's easier to get a phone via carriers on release day than it is to get it directly from Apple. (Mine currently has a ship date of October 4-9.) I guess this is one of the things Apple does to placate the carriers, since the carriers aren't able to put crapware all over an iPhone. 1.
