As far as calling to SXM, Verizon charges .50 a minute from US. All incomming calls to SXM from US to a local rental cell phone are free to the receiver. Verizon only works on the Durtch side and runs around 1.29 a min. Then our direct flight from Miami-SXM was delayed a day due to the 1/15 St. Maarten ATC strike. So our planned 7days/nights on SXM ended up only 6 days/nights, but we made the most of it.
