Oct 30, 2020 · The only other way I can think of is if you don't mind a little jury rigging, take a gas seal similar to the SP 20 gas seal cut from another wad & build up the wad column with fiber filler wads & use the shot cup on top. Be careful to use the same type of gas seal as the data you go by. The fiber wad should not significantly change the pressure. B. Lyman's #5 does list a couple of loads using the STS case and Longshot with the SP20 Rem wad, with pressures at 10,800 and 10,400 PSI, which would be suitable for tube sets.

There are a TON of huge payload wads in 20ga, 1oz or more lead. There have never been more. And there is data for them. You have to stop looking for old discontinued wads, and look at the nontox capable wads. All of these hold 1oz or more lead for 20ga. My main loading in a 16 is with 1oz of Unique or Herco for clays and grouse and the Herco in Federal cases from their manual for 1 1/8oz loads at 1240, 23 grains with a SP20 wad and Fed primer.
