The larger U-Hauls do have surge brakes, so that may help with braking. I towed the 4x8 approx 500 miles (empty one way, full back), through some rolling hills.At 850 lbs. empty, UHaul's 4x8 trailer is out, IMHO, because Subaru's 1,000 lb. limit for a trailer without brakes leaves only 150 lbs. of net cargo carrying capacity.
